Imagine knocking on doors in an attempt to win a House Rep seat as a Democrat, in one of the most affluent areas in the country, at a time when politics are a little “dicey” to say the least. During this process, many a Republican voter surprisingly admits that you’re kind of normal "for a Democrat." Eric Morse talks about his failed attempt to represent Missouri House District 89, why he ran, and some of the enlightening conversations with his neighbors that have helped him better understand our staunch republican state of Missouri with hopes of turning it back Purple. Eric improved upon the best D ever in this district by over 10%… whether he decides to run again is TBD, I hope it is a big “D,” as in Definitely. Let’s go!

From Dexter to The Punisher to O'Connels Burgers!
Nick Novacich. Long time friend that we both allowed far too much time between catching up. This two-plus decade officer who rose to the rank of Chief of Police in my hometown of Granite City, recently won his first election becoming the Madison County Coroner. After all of his experience chasing down perpetrators of the most heinous crimes on the region's special task force, Nick now spends his time with the body, with the evidence, in an attempt to help catch the worst of the worst amongst us. Our conversation ranges from Dexter, to Defund The Police, to The Punisher, and more.  We cover a lot of ground. Yet another taboo conversation exposed to help elevate understanding and entertain while learning.Let’s go!

Mike Parkinson spent 24 years in Granite City Illinois as a police officer. Upon deciding to leave the force 6 years before full pension, he decided he wanted to take on a new challenge... he decided to run for Mayor. He won. We talk about the daily struggle of advocating for his midwest, middle-class, manufacturing, blue-collar town... that has been on the ropes. Balancing the culture of the town, baked-in ideologies, and a shifting demographic with much different wants and needs than the previous generations, Mike realizes that managing the next phase of his hometown's life is a challenge, to say the least. In a time where political identities and loyalties are shifting like tectonic plates... this conversation touches on the heart and soul of those issues and expectations in modern middle America!

Long time friend, and fellow GC native, Rachel Mefford, a.k.a. "Ali Seguro," sat down and chatted all things INSURANCE! Hold on hold on... we focused on the true American enigma, Luigi Mangione, the "UHC" assassin. Why'd he do it? Was he justified? Who is bothered, and more importantly, who is not and why are they not? It was a deeper dive into the world of for profit healthcare between an actual insurance agent that helps people obtain coverage, and myself, an open proponent of dismantling the whole system. It was fun, respectful, and enlightening.

As a Gen X'er, this one was fun. A- I like fast cars, and my guest has been driving and managing fast cars for a living his whole life, and B- I loved MTV before it completely left actually playing music, AND featured "THE Real World." Season 4, based in London, featured STL's own... Mike Johnson. Burroughs grad, Duke Manufacturing son, and our representative on MTV's greatest reality show experiment. We chat the popularity of F1, Netflix, best tracks, cost of a GP car, and his desert island wish list. Bonus... Pork Steak chatter. Subscribe, review, and share! It's free and helps bring in even more great stories!!!

To be honest... THIS EPISODE is exactly what I was hoping for.
He's Pro Life, Pro Guns, and Pro God
I'm Pro-Choice, not a gun owner, and find modern day religion more divisive than ever.
Bryant T Wolfin, the recently elected Missouri State Representative from district 145, about an hour south of St. Louis, joined me to have a frank, direct, contested, but respectful conversation about all things politics, freedom, life, equality, and more. In fact, we often found fundamental similarities in the "why's" we were rolling out as I attempted to avoid my own "bias bubble," while pointing out his as well. At the end of the day, we had fun. I would even venture to guess we learned a lot about the root cause of so much misunderstanding, and frankly, why the hate permeates in today's socio-political landscape. At the end of the day I truly believe we both simply want a better America moving forward. Somewhere in the middle of this conversation we might have touched on some of that possibility.

Jarrad Holst. Attorney. History lover. Political junkie. Real Estate Developer. And my favorite… LinkedIn truth bomb dropper. Our conversation dips and dives in and out of current events, the 2024 election, St Louis City politics, historical equivalency’s to today’s madness, and my favorite part… his brilliant idea regarding the hot topic of how to spend the Ram’s money here in the Lou. Childhood friends always bring the feels, the truth, and a touch of the dirt. Mark Hannigan, fellow Gen-X’er from Granite City, grew up a grinder over on East 27th Street. That’s STREET, not court or lane or Boulevard. He grew up in a mixed-race house, which resulted in him being the “little white kid” dancing all weird at the Mexican Honorary Club. He has been navigating parenthood, traveling Union gigs, jiu-jitsu, and sandwich shop searching, all while running an independent business in a neighboring city that provided a getaway from some of the chaos and predictability of his hometown. I sat down with Martin Casas. Martin is a fellow CIS, middle-aged, married, white guy, that’s a dad, and also greying at a rapid pace. We talked about the recent election, the devolving landscape of news and facts, and a number of 10k’ foot view theories, some obvious, others concepts of theories, as to why Donald Trump won. As a fellow small business owner in the city of St. Louis, we also talk about the power structure here in the 314 and the struggles that come along with wanting to grow, expand, and invest in this city. While we didn’t solve any actual problems, we were, at least I felt we were, honest with ourselves, the results, and the problems associated with the team we were pulling for to win. Please subscribe and review to help feed the ego… Let’s go.

Katie Hubbard was raised a self-proclaimed "Good Little Christian Girl." Growing up in a blue-collar town where most Catholics were Democrats, and Evangelicals were more conservative, religion was more than just part of the process or weekly "to-do" in the Hubbard household. Katie and I took a chat/stroll directly into the belly of the Taboo beast. Religion and a keen focus on spirituality are a major part of Katie's modern life. This independent soul, who triples as an attorney and musician simultaneously, talks about how she navigates her own spiritual self with actual friends and "humans" that have entrenched beliefs that counter her own... without blowing up these same relationships. #religion #podcast #politics #taboo #talkmore #tellmeyourejoking
